One Niles Road, designed in 2000 by architect Hobson Crowe as a contemporary exploration of a Tuscan farm house, is filled with dramatic contemporary art by local, national and international artists collected over the past decade by Chris Mattsson and John McHale. Paintings, sculptures, prints, photographs—both representational and abstract—are juxtaposed dramatically throughout the house. But it is the video sculptures and projections created specifically for the house that make the experience of the Mattsson/McHale residence truly unique. There is no other collection like it in the country. Enjoy casual dining as you hear commentary by Austin Museum of Art executive director and chief curator, Dana Friis-Hansen.
